Oliver started The SEO Company in 2007 while studying law at Edith Cowan University. He had arrived in Perth a year earlier from the UK, aged 22, with a few years of advertising experience at British Telecom behind him. The Global Financial Crisis hit, he lost his job and his visa, and starting an agency was the only way to fund the rest of his degree. The first clients came from cold-calling businesses out of the Yellow Pages.
Eighteen years later, The SEO Company is one of Western Australia's longest-running specialist SEO agencies. The bet that paid off was simple: pick one thing, do it properly, do it for Australian businesses, never hide behind jargon. The SEO Company has never run a lock-in contract and has never sold a "guaranteed page one" pitch.
The agency now handles SEO, AI Search visibility, paid ads, conversion rate optimisation and lead generation for hundreds of Australian businesses. Oliver still answers the phone.
